RallyCrew Roadmap: What’s Here and What’s Coming Next

Every paddler knows that the best trips happen when the right crew comes together—whether it’s a relaxed social float or an adrenaline-filled adventure. That’s exactly why RallyCrew was created: to make it easier for paddlers to find their people, plan trips, and stay connected to the paddling community.

In designing RallyCrew, we started with the essentials. Our first priority was to create a space where paddlers could come together effortlessly—finding partners, discovering events, and sharing experiences. We knew that a strong foundation would be the key to building something special.

But we didn’t want to guess what paddlers needed most. So, before adding too many bells and whistles, we asked. Almost 1,500 paddlers took part in our survey, and sneak peek participants gave us invaluable feedback on what was missing in the paddling world. Their responses shaped which features we included in our initial spring 2025 release.

From there, the journey continues. We expect to roll out new features that enhance the experience and adapt to the paddling community’s evolving needs on a near-monthly basis as RallyCrew grows.

Today

Today

• Members can post and discover basic events.

• Search and filter by event type, date, or location.

• Event registrations typically handled off-site.

Under consideration

• Book courses, clinics, and events directly within the app.

• Track event attendance and participation history on your profile.

• Leave and read course and event reviews—help others make informed decisions by sharing your experience.

• Advanced analytics for event organizers—view metrics like event views, RSVPs, and attendee engagement.

• Set alerts for new events—get notified when events that match your interests are posted (e.g., “Alert me when there’s a Class III course on the Soča River”).

• Pre-trip checklists—automatically generate gear checklists or safety reminders based on event type.

• Event waitlists—allow paddlers to sign up if a course or event is full and be notified if a spot opens.

• Share race results and archive historical race results.

Business Listings

Today

• Basic listings for paddlesport service providers, including schools, clubs, outfitters, and manufacturers.

• Multiple admins—allow multiple team members to manage and update listings.

• Advanced analytics for businesses—track profile views, event sign-ups, and user engagement.

• Customer reviews for businesses—enable users to leave feedback about businesses, courses, and services.

• Promotional tools for providers—run special promotions and offer discounts directly through RallyCrew.

Groups

• Create and manage groups with minimal features (discussion boards, basic event coordination).

• Open or restrict group membership as needed.

• More robust group functionality—clubs can sell memberships, offer exclusive content, and track engagement.

• Integrated group messaging, polls, and event calendars.

• Group gear libraries—allow members to share or borrow gear within their group.

• Enhanced messaging features like read receipts, reaction emojis, and message pinning.

• Threaded conversations for organized discussions.

• Scheduled messages—send messages to groups or individuals at a specific time.

• Message translation—auto-translate messages between languages to facilitate global connections.

• Emergency SOS messaging—quickly notify paddlers in your group or trusted contacts if assistance is needed.

Paddler Log

Today

• Record basic trip details (river name, section, flow).

Under consideration

• Share trip logs with paddlers who were on the same run.

• Upload and download historical paddling data.

• Generate reports to track progress (e.g., “60% Class III last year” or “John Smith was on 82% of your trips”).

• Set personal paddling goals and monitor trends.

• File a trip plan for safety—let trusted contacts know where you’re going, who’s in your group, and when you plan to return. Include emergency contact details in case something goes wrong.

• AI-powered trip insights—analyze data from your paddler log to identify trends, improve performance, and offer insights.

• Paddle history map—view all the rivers you’ve run, globally, in an interactive map format.

• Trip photo/video uploads—attach media to specific trips and relive those moments. 

River Info Integrations

Today

• Pulling basic river data from American Whitewater and PaddlingMaps.

Under consideration

• Push hazard updates and other key data back to source platforms in real time.

• Add integrations with platforms like Whitewater.guide and expand geographic coverage globally.

• Enable paddlers to tag and comment on river hazards or changing conditions.

• Set alerts for river levels—receive notifications when a river hits your preferred flow level.

• Crowdsourced rapid descriptions—allow paddlers to contribute or update rapid beta, complete with photos and videos.

• Real-time river alerts—push notifications about changing conditions, nearby hazards, or unexpected releases. 

Rally a Crew

Today

• Find friends to paddle with by sending in-app messages.

Under consideration

• Post “rallies” to the events section—notify paddlers within a defined radius about your paddling plans.

• Dynamic group formation—create a pop-up group chat for everyone joining a specific rally.

• Last-minute rally alerts—notify paddlers nearby of impromptu trips or river conditions that just turned perfect.

• Set a current location separate from your home base—temporarily update your location when traveling so you can connect with paddlers in that area. Perfect for planning trips or coordinating with others visiting the same destination.

Loaning, Renting, and Couch Surfing

• Develop dedicated functionality to facilitate boat loans, rentals, and paddler-friendly homestays.

• Gear reservation system—allow paddlers to book gear directly through the app.

• Paddler hosting reviews—leave feedback on homestays and gear lending experiences.

• Native mobile app launch—fully functional RallyCrew app available in the App Store and Google Play.
